Key on C4S others opens door and hood

An issue for me is that the key on the 2006 C4S frequently opens the hood (the latch is still operating) There is a signal that "hood is open" in the center gauge, but the problem is the frequency that the key opens the hood when it is bumped in my coat or other pocket. The key has the door opening "button" and the hood "button" but the hood one is the problem. Has Porsche discussed the problem. Is there an alternative key. At $200 each, I hate to toss the keys, but I am tired of pulling over to close the hood. Thanks (new reader). Oldgreenbay

987 Boxster and Cayman owners complain about this. The car is programmed so that the button has to be held down longer before something will open. Also, on the new cars the buttons on the remote were changed so that the are recessed and harder to accidently press, like when they are in your pocket.

I would guess your 997 could be adjusted so that the buttons have to be held down longer.

The car is a 2006 which means a 997 to be clear. I think that the key is not the culprit but the comfort settings via CAN-bus in the control boxes, let your dealer disable all comfort settings in the diverse control boxes and try again.

This has been discussed at length in the past on rennlist or 6Speed.

1. Dealer comfort setting will slightly increase delay if button is accidentally pushed.

2. RemoteKey will add a significant delay, as well as a lot of nice functions, for a price.

3. Someone has taken keys apart and cut back some of the inside button support to make it less sensitive. There was a thread on this a while back, you'll have to do a search!
