This question is for Loren. (or someone with knowledge of the ZF 5HP19 transmission)

I need to know if it possible to reprogram the Tiptronic control module on a MY97 Boxster with a PST2 or PIWIS

or if the transmission will reprogram by itself after some time?

My Porsche mechanics told me that he could not reprogram it with the PC base PST2, and told me that it could be a bad solenoid problem.

The fact is that I recently replace ATF oil (VW Audi oil for the ZF 5HP19 tranny) & filter, but after reconnecting the batery the car didn't shift as well between 4 & 5th gear under normal driving condition (2000 to 4000 rpm) , but when I push it over the 4000rpm, it's shifting perfectly... Kind of weird... I've done all the ZF procedure with the maintenance manual for the fluid replacement with the validation of the fluid level, and everything is perfect...

Loren, I need your advice on this situation. :renntech:

All they could do is put the original 5 map program back in.

Are you sure it just hasn't gone through the re-learn process?

If your shop has a PST2 they can run a few tests.

Thanks for your help Loren.

How long the the re-learn process should take?

Do you know if the PC base PST2 can run these test, and what are these test?

Could I do something with my Durametric cable because for now I have no fault?

Thanks

Re-learning can take a couple of days of driving.

PC based PST2 should be able to run Tiptronics tests.

Durametric will only report faults and some actual values.

Thanks Loren.

I will wait for a week, and if the re-learning process don't solve this issue, I will leave my car to my Porsche mechanics and ask him to run some test with is PST2.

Thanks again

Hi Loren.

My Durametric cable gave me this error code on my tiptronic:

moduleType = MotronicDME78

9X6 Tiptronic Selected

About to get fault codes

moduleType = TiptronicG40

DTC Count = 1

Fault Number:70

Description:P0740

Could you validate that the fault number 70 is related to the torque converter?

Thanks again

DTC 70 or P0740 = Solenoid valve, torque converter clutch. Open circuit/short to ground.

1. Check ATF level. Erase the code and take for a test drive.

2. Re-check for fault codes.

3. If the fault recurs after the test drive and no other faults are stored, the following fault possibilities can be present:

-Electrical activation of pressure regulator 4 not OK (diagnostic trouble codes 83 and 55 present?).

-Mechanical defect in pressure regulator 4.

-ATF supply to the torque converter clutch not OK.

-Converter defective.
