Sometimes rough handling the handbrake up and down a few times does the trick. I had the same problem 2 years ago and never had a problem again.

Hey guys, the microswitch in my parking brake failed suddenly so now I can't put my top back up. Any way to repair it or any hacks to completely bypass it? Thanks in advance.

Matt

Matt:

As "T" suggested, definitely try pulling the parking brake handle up and down vigorously a few times. Sometimes it takes a lot more than just a few times, but it usually works and doesn't come back for a long time.

I think I remember reading a thread on PPBB started by "Pedro" where he replaced the switch without having to remove the entire console. If I run across that thread, I'll post the link here.

Regards, Maurice.

The switch can be replaced without removing the centre console.

Even better I was not looking forward to removeing the console. Do you have a link with the replacement directions?

I have no link for the procedure but it's very straight forward. Just take some patience and a little fiddling about.
