Can't really tell what you're talking about but, it looks normal to me. It looks like my air-box too.

It looks like my air-box too.

hey WARDHOG,

interesting, yours is a C4S, but I think 4S and the C2/4 uses the same engine and airbox or?

Or is this airbox from >MY02 3.6L?

I have to check mine (3.4L) at home, have that already dismounted.

cheers,

Tony

Hey Toni,

I found your source :D on ebay in Germany.

I recall my previous comment, the box looks similar to my 3.6l C2. I attached the 3rd picture of this part...

Regards

Wolfgang

haven't got around looking at my airbox from 3.4L but I have some thoughts though:

ain't the holes letting lots of hot air into the engine?

I know from my engine now when we have +20° outside temp. in the engine compartment is enormous heat!

With hot air, bad performance so I'v heard.

cheers,

Tony

my 3.4L airbox only got the 1st section of holes on the left of shown pics.

in your opinion, why would Porsche modify the airbox in that way?

3.6L need more air or sound?

cheers,

Tony

The base of the 996 airbox will need some way to drain fluids that enter the intake chute (washing the car, driving in heavy rain, etc...).

Sound may be enhanced with increased perforations, but I wonder about the impact of hot engine air entering the airbox and affecting engine performance.
