Boxster 04 or Boxster 05

If you had to choose between these two models with identical milage,condition,treatment which one would you choose? The 04 or the 05 and why? Thanks.

Are you serious? Is price a factor? You might want to debate an 04' S and a base 05'. You do know their is a body style change right? 986 vs. 987.

I would go with the '04 S solely because I think they look better than the 987.

Thank you rick300, Im glad your smart enough to understand the question. I agree the body is better on the 04. An if you were to put them next to each other someone with limited porsche knowledge would have a problem judging the year.

Faced with this exact quandry, I *did* go with the 04 S :) But it was significantly cheaper than any 05 I've seen for sale in the area, which was more of a factor in my decision.

The 05 is probably the better deal if all else is identical, but I have this phobia about buying the first model year of any car, or after any major redesign, as those cars seem to have more than their fair share of problems that's corrected in later model years. The 2004 is the culmination of nearly a decade of tweaking- AND has tons of DIY experience and parts to draw from when things start going wrong down the road.

...me thinx the 986 forum may be a tad biased to this question, though.

I would take the 987 because of a greatly improved interior and more leg & head room.

They are both fine cars so go with the one that tugs at your heart. The 04 is the last of the 986 series and the 05 is first of the 987 line. Each is a distinction that will/might mean something to collectors in 20 or 25 years.

I'd guess a used 05 would have any new model problems sorted.
