Hi there,

I have a 1999 3.4 C2 and found out after replacing the RMS that the leak doesn't come from the RMS, but from the intermediate shaft seal. I'm 100% sure that the leak doesn't come from an improperly installed new RMS, in case you would ask. How bad is this? Is it a sign that the intermediate shaft is about to break, or is it just a leak with a relatively low importance? And should I try to replace the seal, or the entire car before it is too late?

TIA

Laurent

IMHO - It is something you want to get addressed right away. Sometimes when an IMS seal lets loose it can dump all of your oil in a matter of seconds.

Do you have some sort of extended warranty?

I agree with Loren, it's a major thing not to ignore.

If the IMS is still exposed, replace it as well. Cost is about $75 from Sunset. Very easy to do. You will lose some oil in the process but you can catch it and reuse or change your oil if it makes since to do so.
