Sorry to revive this 4 year old thread. Is there a definite solution?

1. Is the consensus to just wait it out?

2. Relay issue? Kind of strange if it was working before change and right after the relay goes.

3. Bosch has quality control issues ? or using a different heater circuit?

I had only P1121 code, so I decided to replace both the rear O2 sensors NOT universal.

I drove about 40 miles with several stops. While driving around 60mph and the cars all warmed up I get P1117 and P1121. Similar as what happened to you guys. I was under the impression that the Heater circuit comes on when the car is cold and not when its hot and running at high speed?

O2 sensors are easy to test - see my earlier posts (in this thread).

P1121 is a throttle position fault.

Not really related unless the throttle is not closing when the DME tells it to.

Try cleaning your electrical contacts on the throttle position sensor (electrical contact cleaner only) - and - clean your throttle body with spray throttle body cleaners.

Clear the codes and see if they come back.

I have a 1997 Boxster.

On the Durametric software it says P1121 is throttle position, but else where its O2 sensor heating element after cat. I believe Durametric is wrong.

P1117 Oxygen Sensor Heating 1 After Catalytic Converter - Below Lower Limit

P1121 Oxygen Sensor Heating 2 After Catalytic Converter - Below Lower Limit

The non working O2 sensor tested OFL which is why I had the P1121.

The working old O2 sensor tested 1.8 ohms

Both the New O2 sensor is tested 1.8 ohms.

Now after replacing both the O2 sensor I get P1121 and P1117 which both the heater element is not detected or faulty. Similar situation with other forum members on the thread where replacing the O2 is causing more problems.

Before I swapped O2 sensors I got P1121, I did not have P1117 at the time.

I want to know how other members who had those problem and they solved it, if at all.

Ok - always helpful if you tell us the model year.

For your model year (pre- egas cars) P1121 is an O2 sensor heating.

If you get 60-80,000 miles out of O2 sensors then you are fortunate.

Make sure you get the right sensors from Porsche or Bosch as the wrong part number is known to cause this sort of problem.

986-606-126-01 is the correct after-cat sensor for your car.

Jeez I wonder if Bosch has serious quality control.

I purchased two sensors 986.606.126.01

One is at 2.3 ohms

One is OFL.

The wrong ones I previous purchased

4.0-4.3 ohms.

After installing the working Bosh 986.606.126.01 no check engine light and passed California Smog. Make sure you have the correct ones and that you didn't get a dead one from Bosch.
