Windsheild replace

I need to replace the windsheild on my Cayenne S 04. The stone chip is right in front of vision on the road - the chip repair was a good job because of it location it is definitely a distraction.

Porsche is quoting be double ($800) of another companies that deals will windsheild as their core business. The other company is AMCO in the Toronto area will use the same window as Porsche.

My question is - is there any technial or any other reason why I should go the Porsche dealership for this fairly simple job.

Try Mantis in Oakville, Speers road area. They do Porsche repairs and are highlighted in the PCA UCR magazine and many members use them. Worth a try. They use original Porsche parts.

Not to scare any pure porschphiles...but a windshield is a windshield. As long as it looks the same and in installed properly, it should be fine to use the less expensive ones. With my insurance, if I am unhappy with the chip repair...they take my deductible that I paid ($15) and apply it to the $50 deductible for winshield replacement. The insurance picks up the rest and does not change my rates.

I think the key thing to look for is the dark "shading" stripe at the top of the windshield...make sure it is the same color as the original, or it may really bother you. <_<

There is no magic to this. Any independent installer can put in any brand glass you want.
