Just Upgraded to New Boxster Yesterday!

Wow! is all I can say. I had a 2002 that I had purchased new and I thought I would never drive another car that handled as well as it did. Boy, was I wrong! I just purchased a 2007 demo model yesterday and what a difference. Although it is a base model, it has the optional 6-spd and the active suspension button. Tight on ramps that I used to take at 50-60 MPH before I am able to take at 60-70 now and 80+ with the active suspension activated. I was very apprehensive about letting my 02 go with all the upgrades I had added, but in just one day I no longer miss it. I can't wait to get it flashed. The sales man stated that in two months they will have the equipment to bring my base model to 300 HP for around 2K. The only bummer is that it is raining and I've been using the daughter's oldsmobile today... please clear the skies!!

Wow if you can reach at least 297 hp you'll see just the type of "beast" you have purchased... The 987 is one of the best balanced cars out there.

Wartooth, congrats on the new car! What P-dealership does this "flash". What do they say about the effect on the warranty, if any? Thanks.

Good for you wartooth! Having owned all sorts of cars for the last 35 years, I am always amazed that what seemed like high performance just 5 years ago is now mundane. Everything improves: tires, engine technology, suspension design, shock valving, safety, NVH, computers, fit and finish. Let's face it, todays MazdaSpeed 3 is faster than a mid 70s Corvette, Porsche or Ferrari!

And the Boxster is no exception. Rather than turning out new sheetmetal every 2 years, Porsche does seem to invest more engineering in evolutionary changes than many manufacturers.

That said I do not believe that a simple flash on a normally aspirated motor can possibly bump HP by more than 50 ponies. Don't believe everything the stealership tells you!

I purchased this one from Napleton Westmont Porsche outside of Chicago. They claimed that in two to three months they will have this available. I also received a free track day at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet. They said they would flash it there for that one day for me to feel it and then would remove it. I could then purchase it later if I wanted.

Wartooth, Napleton is just down the street from my office. You will love the Autobahn. I did a PCA event there a couple summers ago. Enjoy.

Let us all know when you do the ECU upgrade . We'll be anxious to hear if it does make a big diff. congrats on the new car. I just got my 2008 base boxter with pasm and it is fantastic. know how you feel :D

Given that the best ECU tuners are only claiming 300bhp for the 3.2S and 310bhp for the 3.4S i doubt very much you'll get anywhere near those quoted figures. If Revo,GIAC etc can't extract more than 15bhp extra on an S you ain't gonna get 50bhp from a 2.7
