Spoiler won't go down on my 97 Box

Having problems with my rear spoiler, won't retract. The switch won't bring it down either. I listened for any noise from the spoiler motor while someone operated the switch, didn't hear anything. I checked the fuse, that looks good, I assume it may be one of the two relays located in the rear left trunk. There is a relay in slot #3 that is for spoiler extension, and a relay in #9 for spoiler retraction. Should I try and swap out that relay #9 first? I guess I could try and run a power lead back there and see if the motor will raise and lower the spoiler. From the little I know, it looks like I should try and repalce the relay first. Any other ideas from anyone with experience here? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

With the ignition on push twice and hold the button to lower the spoiler, if the spoiler doesnt work change the up relay with the down relay, the spoiler stays down if the relay is faulty.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but I've the same problem and have a partial solution (for my car anyway).

Mine won't go down either, swapping relays makes no difference. Just tapping the up switch as it turns out, makes the motor run all the way up and the up 12 v voltage to the motor continues (indefinitely) making it impossible to make it go down.

Weirder still, if I pop the caps off the relays and activate them with my finger, they work fine. (and yes the manual switch is fine to).

The GOOD NEWS is, if I turn the ignition off and take the key out, then put it back in back in, the constant “up” 12 v is gone and I can lower the spoiler normally with the switch.

That might help you on a temp. basis. Be interested what others have to say.

Regards,

PK

BTW: I always pop the relays out in theses situations and give'm a couple of thwacks on the driveway, works about 50% of the time
