ok i feel like an idiot. which means i probably am. i removed my litronic headlights today on my 996 today and when putting one back, it got wedged in such a weird way that now it will not come out. i tried everything: twisting the headlight removing tool and pulling, removing wheel and liner and pushing it out, etc. nothing. its just stuck there. the weird part is that the inside of the light seems to come up an inch or so, but outside seems to be stuck solid next to the fender metal. any suggestions? clues? pointers?

(it seems stuck on there so strong, that i figured i'd drive around with it for a bit and see if things change)

Maybe go at it fresh in the morning? Clear heads prevail. I had a similar problem and I nudged it just the right way and it came out. You may have to put inward pressure and turn lock at the same time.

Sounds like your dip switch is crack. Should be able to get a replacement from a breakers cheap enough. I have the same problem with my front fog lights. The first thing I would check is the contacts within the stalk itself, this may mean sourcing a stalk from a scrapyard and trying that. They do wear out over time.
