2004 GT3.

Track season is in full swing and I have recently changed my alignment. Set up is Moton Club Sport, HR Springs, 250 PSI rear shock pressure, 125PSI front. Full hard front and rear compression, full hard rebound rear, 50% front. Rear bar full hard, front bar 1 hole from full firm. Alignment was -5' (toe out) front, rear 25' (toe in). I ran my first year with the car respectfully at 1:47 at Laguna, 2:08 at Buttonwillow. This was the set up while I bonded with the car. Respectfully, I learned the car, the set up, and posted some good times while driving well within myself.

In an effort to enjoy the car more on the street it is my desire to change the alignment but leave the rest alone. The car ride height and corner balance was set and will be rechecked when I align it. Maybe something like this:

Front toe: 0

Camber: 2degrees

Rear Toe: 10'

Camber: 1.75 degrees

I have read a lot of threads here and am ready for everyones opinions and ideas of how the car might perform both on and off the track with a new alignment.

Sorry to be off topic but what an awesome car!!

Phillipj

Thanks Phillip. I really enjoy the car. The longer I own it the more confident I am in moving toward the limits. I posted this thread because the one thing I know for sure is ALIGNMENT is everything with these cars.

Hi Inverter..... Just my personal experience here. I have 22K miles on my '04 GT3. 90% of that are road miles. You are correct that alignment makes a huge difference on the GT3....and that good alignments for street are VERY different from good track alignments. All my personal experience is with the stock suspension and ride height. I set my street alignment for good road trip comfort (minimum twitchiness) and to maximise tire wear. (With PS2 street tires you will spend roughly as much for rear tires as you will for gasoline). For street only, I adjust to -1 degree front camber, +0.07 degree front toe (+0.14 degree total front toe); -1.7 degree rear camber, +0.23 degree rear toe (+0.46 degree total rear toe). Repeat, this is street only and biased for maximum highway controllability and maximum tire wear. Your mileage may vary.

This is exactly the direction I was looking to go. The Kinesis wheels on the car has Pilot Sport Cups and so do the original GT3 wheels. I suspect that I will go along your lines and put a longer wearing street tire on the factory wheels. I also suspect that I am going to need to tinker with the compression and rebound settings to obtain a nice ride. Thank you very much for your input. :)

Inverterman,

I do covet your GT3. I may have an opportunity to acquire an 04 with just 800 miles on it. My friend is a wholesaler and has a client who need to get rid of the car asap. I may be able to get it for around 71 to 74k.

I have never tracked my 996 C2 but if I get the GT3 it will definetly see the track.

Good luck with the settings on your car. It's really beautiful.

Phillipj,

Grab that car! that is a great price and I really believe that it will retain its value as long as you meticulously maintain it. I have had the fortune of tracking many cars and the GT3 is hands down the most challenging and the most rewarding. I purchased my GT3 from a professional driver who spent a lot of time and money setting it up for serious tracking. I just passed the 14K mile mark without incident. I change the oil after every track event including gear box. The car is teched before and after every event. All of this and I am still under factory warranty until July 08!!

Thanks, Jim
