There is a photo in post #4 of the cable loop, but it is a little difficult to see. If you enlarge the photo you can see it.

If you get your lid open, maybe you can take a better photo and post it here.

Like RFM said, make a hook out of wire and slide it under the gap of the taillight assembly. I have the day off today so I took a picture for you.

This will at least give you an idea where to fish for it. You should be able to grab it with some patience.

I was able to lift the tail light a bit and using a flashlight I was able to see part of the cable, fished it and pulled the cable, lid opened!
