I have a 2007 Boxster S with the Bose system and I have noticed that it does not get any louder or eq any differently to compensate for cabin noise like it is supposed to. I have it set to automatically adjust, I just hear no difference. Does anybody notice a big difference when they use this feature? Thanks

Yes, but lower down in the volume range. There is a level above which it won't operate.

There is an option on the PCM menu called audiopilot. Its all in the manual, but basically it has a microphone on the steering column to detect background noise , the audiopilot then adjusts the volume and settings to compensate.

Maybe later versions are better, but the volume does not change much if at all in my car with audiopilot. My hearing is less than good, tho.

The audiopilot seems to be reading the microswich on the top. It seems to not do anything as best I can tell if the top is up. In the summer I use a red-clip to make the interior sensor on the alarm work with the top down. Sometimes when I drive off I forget to remove the clip, once at highway speeds it become very noticeable audiopilot is not working. When I remove the clip it starts working correctly.

Correct, the red clip makes the Bose think the top is up, and therfore "reading" the car to be more quiet than it actually is. You can just poke your finger into the mircoswitch, and see how the volume changes.
