I checked the fuses - they're fine. I held the TP button in for 10 - 20 -etc seconds, but Zero sign of life.

Any suggestions other than Best Buy for a new stereo?

Disconnect the battery ( + cable and - cable as well ), connect the loose + and the loose - cable with a jumper cable ( take care that the cables have no contact with the battery ) for approx. 30 minutes, reconnect the battery and try again.

It is a CDR23 - the car is a 2003 C2. At present, the stereo shows no sign of life at all.

RFM, are you saying to use jumper cables to make a loop of the + and - cables?

FWIW, the car sat without a battery for 4 days.

How do I get the stereo unit out to check its fuses?

Thank you all for the input - I truly appreciate it.

Bill:

To get the head unit out, you will need a special tool, which consists of two small metal blades that hook into each side of the head unit and which then release it from its mounting.

Yes, make a loop with a jumper cable between the + and the - cables when DISCONNECTED from the BATTERY.
