I have a 2004 Cayenne S. It has travelled 67000 KM. It suddenly ran rough recently and after investigation it was discovered that No 7 cylinder had no compression. The top of the piston is immobile in the bore when viewed by a boroscope. It does not move when the engine is tuned over which leads us to believe that the crown of the piston has separated from the body. The car is now with Porsche to work out what :( to do.

Any comments?

Is the car European or is the DME reprogrammed to Euro norm ? It's only a question, no need to answer that.

I also have a 2004 Cayenne S. It has 77000 km. I suddenly had a knocking sound and took the car in right away to the local Porsche service. It was discovered that piston No 6 was broken and the entire engine needs to be replaced. I am 6 months out of warranty. Porsche said they would do nothing for me but are now reconsidering. Initially they blamed me for not doing oil changes but backed off when they realized they made a mistake and that I had in fact done oil changes faster than the recommended maintenance schedule. I have done some online research and read about someone else in the UK (I'm in Canada) with a cylinder blowing on a 2004 Cayenne. My local Porsche service people told me that they had heard about this happening on Cayennes but it was rare. Please let me know what happened with your car.
