Which brand do you gentlemen prefer? I read that valentine is top choice, Is that correct in you opinions? I'm in texas so I don't know what type or radar they use.

I use a Valentine in 1 car and an Escourt in another. Both are excellent. The Valentine wins out by a slight edge though. The arrows are very handy in finding where the radar is coming from. I would buy the Valentine

I use a Valentine-1 and a built in K-40 (www.k40.com). The V-1 gives a much earlier warning than the K-40 most likely due to the position of the antena. The V-1 is mounted high inside the windscreen while the K-40 antenae are mounted low in the front bumper and the rear license plate ring.

Valentine-1 with remote display

I have had valentine one detectors for years.....they're great! Not only is the ability to know where the signal is coming from very helpful, but you can always send the unit in for updates when they come out. That allows you to avoid the cost of buying an entire new detector every few years.

I have had a hardwired Escort 850 for one year now...Apart from the false alarms it is good overall. I heard from friends and read that the Valentine 1 is very similar except for the arrows - both rank the same in tests except for Ka band where Escort is superior.

I would try the new Escort 950i - it supposedly eliminates false alarms through GPS capabilities, has a more modern design and can be purchased in almost any reputable eletronics store - price is very close to the Valentine's.

Just my 2 cents

yes - V1 with PoP. Saved me a few hundred $ up in Northern CA last summer - I was not paying attention to speedo, V1 alerted me in time to back off before seeing the CHP car hidden on a right hand curve. Mount the v1 near the rear view mirror. Search renntech to find hard wire instructions.

Once you go valentine you never go back. I'm on my second one now in 15 years. They let me trade the old one in and buy the newest model for $150. Best customer service I've ever encountered.
