Hi, I have a MY00 Carrera 4.

While driving today the car just died, as though I had switched off the ignition.

I inspected and found the fuse for the engine management(c1) had blown. Replacement fuses alse blew.

Any ideas? The recovery guy drew a blank but thinks it could be a chaffed wire somewhere.

Thanks

C1 is engine electronics. I would remove the carpet cover behind the rear seats and then rotate the electronics mount up. Then make sure the DME cable is plugged in and tight. Also, look for chaffing or damaged wires there.

Loren, thanks for the swift response. I revoved the two metal panels and had a look at the (thousands!) of wires, alas nothing...

I am going to get the car towed to an OPC on Tuesday. My worry is that they will charge by the hour until they find the problem...

Based on a chat with a couple of people, it looks likely to be a faulty component in the ECU.

Any idea if replacing this is going to be very expensive? ;-(
