One brake light out (It's not the bulb) any ideas?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to the forum... Just got my first Porsche 2000 Boxster S (25K miles) and I love it..... I went and got it inspected yesterday and it passed inspection... But when I got home my neighbor told me I had a brake light out.... I looked at it bought a bulb and it does not work... It is the driver side light.... I changed the working bulb from the passanger side and still does not work.... I know they run out of the same fuse so that can't be it.... Any ideas?

Tks,

By the way great site.... Already donated....

Regards,

Ryan

Sounds like a bad ground connection or bad socket.

I couldn't wait for the weekened so I checked it with the multimeter last night and sure enough it was the socket.... Some how the link between the bottom of the socket (+) got broken from the main power line..... So either I sotter it back on or just buy the fixture.....

Thanks

If that doesn't work

many people have spare circuit boards as a result of swapping older style tail-lights for new. I have the drivers side complete with bulbs working when removed. If you need it....mike.focke at gmail.com

Mike,

Thanks for the suggestion and offer.... The driver side is the one that I would need.... But I just ordered a new set of tail lights... I ordered the ones that come with the 550 all red... I hope they look good with my car... it's blue....

By the way if you are the Mike Focke from the website.... That is great information you have put together... One of the reasons I ended up buying a Boxster.....

Regards,
