Hey guys, just recently the orange annunciator light at the top of my temp gage started flashing as soon as I start the car, even when its ice cold. It stays on no matter what temp the car is at and the coolant level is fine and the car doesn't overheat. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same experience and/if they could repair it. Its not really a big deal because the temp gage works fine, but nonetheless an annoyance. Thanks in advance

Matt:

That light is more likely to start flashing when the engine is cold, and in some instances it will go out after the engine is thoroughly warmed up. The flashing light indicates low coolant level, although you indicate that the coolant level is fine. Perhaps you are checking the coolant level after the car has warmed up.

It is sometimes difficult to see the level through the opaque coolant tank.

The easiest way to determine whether you may have a coolant level low enough to trigger the flashing light is to gradually add a small amount of distilled water and repeatedly check the light to see if stops flashing. If you pour too much distilled water into the coolant reservoir, you can remove some by using a turkey baster or similar device for suction.

Regards, Maurice.
