Just picked up my 2000 Boxster cleaning the MAF sounds easy enough but where is it located?

The MAF is located just upstream of the air filter housing. Just take a look at the fat round plastic tube between the air filter housing and the throttle body and you will see it held in place with two Torx (security) screws and an electrical connector pressed in place into it.

After you remove the engine cover, stand on the driver's side of the car, facing the passenger side and just look straight down into that edge of the engine compartment, you can't miss it.

Regards, Maurice.

Does anyone have a pic or step by step directions to get to the MAF. Do you access it from the top where the roof folds into? Hoping to clear the Dura Faults attatched by first cleaning the MAF then later replacing.

Is there somewhere on here that has some pictures to show me how to even remove the engine cover let alone find the MAF, I have no idea but would like to attempt to clean the MAF and see what all the fuss is about :D

Just cleaned my MAF using some great step by step photos that I got from here. Very easy and straightforward. I hope that keeps my check engine light off for a while. Unlike others, I did not have idle or rough running trouble, just the CE light. Car was running fine. I reset the light once without cleaning the MAF and it came back on in 140 miles. So I figure I'll know in about 150 miles if cleaning it worked.

Used CRC electronics cleaner on the MAF. I had previously used this on my explorer two years ago and haven't had a problem since.

I have a hard time removing the plug from the MAF. Can you guys share some info on how to remove? It looks like there is a clip along side the plug...do I push in, out, up? Where do I exert leverage to unplug? Short sides of plug? Long sides? This thing is not moving at all. Can you please be as specific as you can?

Thanks

Thanassis
