I bought a 1995 993 c2 2 months ago. The previous owner gave me 2 lighted keys, but no remote.

I thought it was normal, that the keyless entry system was probably just a factory option.

Yesterday, a friend of mine told me that it was standard equipment on all 993s, and that I could just buy a set of remotes for the car.

Is he correct?

Can I just buy a set of remotes?

Thanks

the early 95s did not have the immobilizer so they do not have the remote entry which activate the immobilizer

feel lucky as the immobilizer can cause trouble and is difficult to code.

you can add an aftermarket remote entry / alarm

I have a 1997 C2S purchased in Japan without keyless entry. First, how the car was fitted depended on the market. Second, I noticed them, at least in Japan, more prevalent on later models (i.e. '98 993), and/or better equipped ones (C4S, TT, or full leather optioned). That said, I have seen DIY kits on the internet.
