I have a 2001 996TT with 13,500 miles. Last week the clutch was hard to depress after the car had been sitting overnight and would be ok after the car was started. This week the assist will not last over 10 minutes after shutting off the car. Also, the pressure, while driving, is not very constant. One shift, the clutch will be harder to press than the next. Does this sound like air in the line or a bad clutch slave cylinder???? and should the master cylinder be changed at the same time?

I posted this issue on another forum, but I'll ask here too....I'm getting a vibration thru the clutch pedal when I hit 4000 rpm in gears 1, 2, 3, and 4. The vibration starts almost exactly at 4K under load. I can also take it up to 4K and keep it cruising there, then slightly depress the clutch and feel that tickling vibration in the ball of my foot. It doesn't seem to vibrate in 6th when cruising.

Any chance this could be the accumulator also? If the clutch was going, wouldn't it vibrate at just about any rpm? Same the the TO bearing? There's only 25K on the car.....02X50.

Loran,

It was the pressure accumulator. Thank-you very much.

Who says that you can't find what you need in a forum.

I had encountered the same problem as JSmith996TT. I sent my repair shop a link to this forum listing and the problem was fixed by replacing the pressure accumulator just as Loren had said.

Thanks from me too, Loren.
