I have the worst high speed wind noise at between 75-80 mph (freeway speeds) and am wondering if there is anything I can do. It seems to be coming from the drivers side front edge of the targa roof area and is so loud I can't hear my radio over it! Please help:>

There are TSBs for Targa's manufactured before October 19, 2004 that changes the glass sliding mechanisms - primarily for rattling noises. And another TSB the change the glass seal (for cars manufactured before December 3, 2004).

If these have not been done to your car they might be a good place to start.

Loren,

I was told by my local dealer that this particular TSB called for between 12 and 15 hours labor plus the cost of the two parts. What is your input regarding this? What is the price on the parts? I emailed Sunset a month ago and never received a quote. I have a little rattle once in a while however, nothing to warrant the cost described above if the dealer is in fact correct.

The seal TSB says 2 hours 20 minutes. The seal MSRP is $245.22 and special cleaner is used MSRP $8.47.

The mechanism TSB does not give a time estimate (perhaps because they were all supposed to be done while cars were still under warranty).

The retaining frame repair kit has an MSRP of $1255.73 and the lift mechanism repair kit has an MSRP of $656.39.

Did you ever report the problem while you were under warranty? If so, I think they have an obligation to fix it for you under warranty.

You could always ask for a regional PCNA rep to review your issue...

Loren,

Thank you for the information. I purchased the vehicle out of warranty with no rattles and/or problems. The slight rattle showed up after spending two months on the not so friendly streets of New Orleans last summer. Unfortunately this is one that I will have to live with or pay out of pocket. I have no leaks and the rattle is not a significant problem (even as anal as I am) so, unless it gets worse; I will live with it.

Me dealer and there Porsche tech do not like to hear that I had educated myself from internet sources. In fact, they were uncomfortable with my knowledge of the TSBs and challenged internet sources in general rather than answering my questions. Go figure???? A customer actualy interested in his car .....
