On my MY03 I can see the Cruise control warning light in the far right side of the warning light bank.

When I turn on the key this light does not light up. Does anyone have this light and does it do anything?

Loren - I see that light in the speedometer cluster when I turn on the cruise control, but the warning light I am referring to is to the right of the Rollover protection system warning light. I can see it's the silhouette (sp) in the dash.

Ok, you have lost me.

Your car is a MY03 996 so it's cluster should look like this.

Item 4 is the light that lights up when the cruise in ready mode.

Where is this other light again?

The other (Cruise) light is to the right of the "Q" light. It looks just like the one in the speedometer cluster, but I have never seen it lit up during the start of the car. I don't see it in my manual, but it is there.

Light sensor for instrument cluster

REALLY!? you mean a sensor to automatically dim the instrument cluster lighting based on the ambient light in the cabin?

Wow... I did not know that.... thanks

Strange... more trivia... a mistake or planned and never used?

The only cruise light light that I know of is item 4 in the diagram above.

I too have the same cruise light in the same position (far right) on my 02 C2. It is hard to see, unless the sun hits it directly.

According to the Boxster owner's manual, that position is used for the cruise control light in the Boxster 'S'. All of the other cars use the one in the speedo display.

The Boxster instrument cluster also has the Carrera warning light at position Q: "Rollover Protection System".

I think all U. S. MY01 - MY04 Boxster instrument clusters and all U. S. MY02 - MY04 Carrera instrument clusters are structurally (and electrically) the same. The only differences being the lack of a voltmeter / oil pressure gage on the Boxster instrument cluster; and the lack of the dot matrix OBC display on non-OBC optioned Boxsters.
