I am trying to locate part#s for the Black side vents that come on the 2008 Orange Special Edition Boxsters. I was able to get the one for the Black rear emblem albeit it took a while since it was new. Surely Porsche must be able to supply them (or will in the future) - they'll be needed for accident repairs, owners who break them, etc.

Thanks in advance...Bob Z.

The black side vents on the 2008 SE are the same as any other 987. Just painted a different color at the factory.

Are you planning to put black vents on your Guards Red Boxster?

I think it will be a bit&h trying to keep your black "Boxster" emblem on the rear trunk clear/clean of wax residue, not to mention getting caught in wash/wax/buffing towel. Be careful.

I figured that since I can get the Black emblem from the factory I could get the Black side vents from the factory as well; not inclined to spend $289 for a pair from Bumper Plugs or take mine off and get them painted. And yes, I want them for my Red/Black 987 S.

As of January 2008 the only side vents listed in the parts list are titanium metallic - so I think you would have to paint them.

US MSRP $55.79 each

Thanks much. I would assume that they will be offered eventually since once again, if an owner needs to replace them (factory parts) I doubt Porsche would expect that owner to get a set painted! Or so I hope!

Yes, if someone got into an accident, they would have to purchase the OEM titanium vents, and then have them painted.

Bob, I think Bumperplugs charges a fair price. Especially considering the work quality and customer service.

How long would it take you to sand the vents, prime the vents, sand again, color match your paint, paint the vents, sand yet again, apply multiple layers of paint, clear coat...? Then do the math, based on your value of time as related to your annual salary. You get my point.

Think how much a poor quality job would "cost" you! Or poor quality customer service. Everythng has a price, and that is usually based on a factor of cost + value.

No more Caymen vent?

Having seen how prone the vents are to stone chips , i think i would be inclined to get an local auto repair shop to paint them for me at a cheaper cost than 289 dollars or whatever.
