Hey everyone,

I have a quick question...I recently purchased a 2000 911 Convertible (finally was able to bump up from my boxster - wow, what a difference!)...well, I noticed that there is a very small tear (maybe a centimeter or so) in the middle of the top...it looks like the locking mechanism from the clamshell pinched it...there is a plastic trim piece/cover that appers to have snapped off near the clamshell locking mechanism...i will replace that part - I think that should fix the problem...is there a way to fix the tiny hole without replacing the whole top?

Also any advice on the clamshell lock pinching the top would be appreciated.

Here's a pic of the car. Great forum - glad to be a part of it!

This happen when a elastic cross connection between the exterior and interior textile lining of the convertible hood is snapped off or was, you can see the elastic cross with the hood half open. The exterior textile will come over the side rails when closing and takes a higher position when fully open and hit the locking mechanism while driving by friction.

Could be a issue that is already fixed, just take a look. Renew the lock cover when damaged. Try to find a company to repair the textile ( some needlework ? )

Thanks for the advice...i went to the porsche dealer today - they weren't too helpful...I also tried a local upholstery shop - they said that there was very little they could do in terms of fixed the hole (other than putting a patch on the inside of the hole...I have been looking around on the web, but there seems to be very little on this...

Has anyone patched a small hole in their convertible top before (it is very small, i can barely get the tip of my finger nail in the hole)?

Thansk!

Anyone have any experience/advice on patching a very small tear on a cabrio top (not on a stress point - right in the middle of the top)...thanks!
