I recently purchased a 2004 Cayenne Turbo. The original owner ordered it with the optional wood steering wheel. I don't care for the wood wheel, but could live with it. However, when I learned that this option deleted the heated steering wheel, it made me want to swap it out. Does anyone know if the wiring is still present? Has anyone swapped their steering wheel? What I'm getting at is...how much of a pain would it be to swap this wood wheel for the heated leather one? I would even attempt it if the wiring wasn't already there that runs up thru the steering column and such. I would only attempt it if all I had to do was install the new wheel and plug it in.

The wiring is there, just change and connect the wheel. Give attention to the color, the airbag in the middle is a separate part, the rim and the airbag must have the same color.

Really... that is so unlike Porsche.

Don't the Cayenne's have a custom wire harness?

I have a 08 Cayenne S and I believe that the heated steering wheel was not an option. I think it may come standard in the S. I know I have it as it comes on when the temperature outside is below a certain temp, maybe 40 or so. So it could be that the wiring is in there.

It was an option in MY04.

1. Thanks for everyone's reply so far. I really appreciate the feedback.

2. The heated steering wheel was standard on the Turbo in 04. Listed on the Standard Equipment is "Heated F and R seats and steering wheel". This might only be for the Turbos.

3. Has anyone actually had this apart to confirm that the wires are there? I don't want to seem picky, but I would feel a lot better about ordering the part if I knew someone had theirs apart in the past and can confirm that the wiring is present.

4. How do I change the setting with PIWIS to re-enable the heated steering wheel?

5. Has anyone ever ordered the regular steering wheeL and know the cost?

Again, thanks for everyones' reply thus far.
