A post on another Forum shows the Carrera Sport wheel with 305/30-19 tires on a new C2S, so I re-checked the Porsche on-line configurator which confirmed that the Turbo wheel option is also suppose to come with 305's. I was concerned enough to run back to the dealer (actually I drove) to find out why my '08 C2S w/Turbo wheels only had 295's. I was told that 305 tires are only put on the C4S, and that they wouldn't fit on the narrower C2S, so you only get the regular 295 tires.

I can't understand why the Carrera Sport Wheel/305 tire will fit, but not the Turbo/305. I believe I should have the 305 tire on my car, and that the dealer should put them on (free!) because that's what I believed I was buying. Hopefully, there are Forum Members out there who might be knowledgeable about this tire issue? Thanks!

There was an extensive thread on this on 6speedonline a few months ago, and the research of several different posters indicated that the 295 size is what is supposed to come with the Turbo wheel on a 997 C2S. I have an 07 C2S with Turbo wheels, and it indeed has the 295's on the rear wheels. If you will look in the 997 Owner's Manual, you will see that the rim width for 295's is 11.0 inches, while the width for 305's is 11.5. The Carrera Sport wheel has an 11.5 width, while the Turbo wheel for C2S's has an 11.0 width, hence the fitting of different tire sizes.

The 997Turbo rear tires are spec'ed as 305/30 ZR 19 according to the Porsche TSB. This is the same for the 997 C4S.

I put 305's on my stock Lobsters, C2S. They actually were take offs from a C4S. I don't think it makes a big difference and will more likely than not go back to 295's on the next set.

I wouldn't sweat it, enjoy the car. The back tires wear very quickly anyways.

1) 305's will fit so the dealer was wrong there.

2) On the C2S, 305's come with the Carerra Sport wheels, 295's come with the Turbo wheels so your dealer was correct there.

The rear wheels on the 997 Turbo have a different offset than the Turbo wheels offered as options on the narrowbody C2's - not that it makes a difference on the size of the tire since the rim widths are the same.

997TT OEM rear wheel 305

997 narrowbody (c2) Turbo rear wheel option 295

997 widebody (C4) Turbo rear wheel option 305

BTW - the configurator is not always correct.
