Can anyone explain what the differences are between the 996 OBDII (DME 5.2.2) factory manual and the 986 Boxster OBDII (DME 5.2.2) factory manual?

The 996 manual is on sale at a very reasonable price at Sunset Imports (Board Sponsor) and I was wondering how useful it would be in diagnosing 986 fault codes, etc.

Things like idle speed, fuel trim, injector pulse length. The standard presets used in diagnosis. If you have the correct setpoint table from the factory service manual, the 996 OBDII manual would be perfectly fine. Just need to be aware of the slight differences between the two.

Only difference that I can think of is the diagram layout of the components section since the (emissions) parts sit in different locations on the Boxster.

Loren, I spoke with Jeff Clark about these 996 OBD II manuals, and they are pre e-gas only (98-99) and would not be usefull for later models..........................
