Hey I am a new member and first of all I can't get enough of this site. I am thinking of adding a Fabspeed MaxFlo Hi-Performance Muffler, Fabspeed Catalytic Converter Bypass Pipes 996, and Fabspeed Muffler Bypass. With these additions will I pass emissions in Virginia? Does anyone know a good site or place where I can purchase these items at a good price? How much more horsepower will i be gaining? The site I was looking at told me about 30hp....is that correct? Another motivation for adding these mods is that my whole muffler sytem will be polished and it will look like a show car. Is this a good purchase? Thanks in advance for all of your help and input!!!!!

you CANT run fabspeed muffler bypass pipes and mufflers at the same time... as the REPLACE the mufflers all together

Silver is right. If you bypass the mufflers....... Why would you need mufflers?

For what it is worth, DO NOT INSTALL THE CAT BYPASS PIPES!

I have the Fabspeed mufflers and love them. It fell for the Bypass pipes claims as well. First of all, for everyday driving you will have a loss of low end torque and the sound is REALLY obnoxious. The exhaust system is designed for the cats. Unless you have at least 50 cel cats the car will run like crap.

I was so unhappy I returned the Cat Bypass pipes to Fabspeed and they gave me my money back.

Also forget the claims of 30hp. The mufflers are awesome and have great sound but that's it.

My friend has the bypass pipes on his 996 .. There is also a loss of low end torque as well. One thing good about the muffler bypass pipes is that they are inexpensive and you can swap between the mufflers quite easily. And obviously they are very loud. Check out Fabspeeds site and they have a sound clip with the muffler bypass.

Just my opinion and experience

I just had my 04 996TT stage 2 completed a couple of weeks ago. It included a Fabspeed cat and a "quiet" exhaust, and V-flow intake. The sound is not "quiet" around 2000+ rpm; but it sounds really good when at lower or higher rpm. I noticed that there is no different before or after installing the Fab at low rpm. However, I can feel the car is faster at the top because the air flows thru so fast. This is true for TT but not sure for C2.

I would forget about HP and torque gains claimed by aftermarket products. There are just too many variables to net what is claimed. On another note the Fab mufflers do improve the sound over the stock mufflers. Based on the Fabspeed video there does seem to be less restriction engineered into the muffler, and there seems to be good quality in assembly, but as far as gains, well I wouldn't put so much credence into the claims.
