Hello all!

I have yet to see any information as far as tire rotation intervals for the '04 Cayenne. Does anyone out there rotate their tires on a regular interval? I'm trying to troubleshoot some steering wheel vibrations at 70 mph, and after re-balancing, it was fine for about 200 miles then it's slowly coming back. I have about 20k on my tires already and I'm suspecting my lack of rotating the tires may be the cause. If anyone has any info, it'd be appreciated. Also, because my wheels have different offsets, rotating them costs some $.

I have 20" Sport Techno wheels on my 2004 Cayenne S. I rotate them every 5,000 miles. I don't have any problems with vibration right now, and my current tires have approximately 10K miles. The original Continentals lasted about 26,000 miles, and they were vibrating a little by the time they were changed.

I also rotate AND balance my tires on 5K mile intervals. I'm running 295/30 22" Pirelli Scorpion Zeros ... 15K+ miles and they are wearing great. I drive highway, city streets and aggressive canyon carving rallies.

What tire are you using?

Hmm, looks like there's evidence that my LACK of rotations may be causing it. I'd hate to think my wheels are bent either. I'm running 265/35 22" Kumho Ventus ST. They have even tire wear, so I'm happy with that. It's the shimmy that's bugging me.

Cannoli, no problems pushing your tires to the limit? I've been hesitant on attending a DE course through the Porsche Club because I can't predict how my tires can handle the aggressiveness of a Cayenne on an open course.

I do the same. I have them balanced on a Hunter Road Force machine. It produces a much better balance than the typical spinning type of balancer. You can go on Hunter's website to find one close to you. Unfortunately for me, the closest one is at the Porsche dealer. Go figure...

I have purchased Kumho tires in the past that where "out of round" from the factory - I do not buy them anymore. Not sure how others here feel but I would stick with N rated tires on a Porsche.

Sometimes, N-spec tires are not available for contemporary wheels of today. To address this, I examine the N-spec Tire "specs" and then look for tires with the same or better specs. I look at tread wear coefficient, maximum load, speed rating, etc.
