Caster angle for 2004 Targa

Recommended Posts

Just had my 2004 Targa wheel alignment done by a local Porsche dealer and my left caster angle is at 7.4 degrees. The specified range is 7.5 to 8.5. Can this angle be adjusted? Right side is 7.7 (both before and after). Everything else is within spec (front and back). what causes the caster angle to be out of spec?

There are special lower control arms (996 341 941 01) that you can order (through Porsche) that have an eccentric so you can get more caster.

Last check they were about twice the price of the stock lower control arms.

Thanks Loren for the quick response...so I guess that the current caster angle cannot be adjusted? Unless I install the special lower control arm as you mentioned to get more angle. I am thinking of bringing the car back to the dealer to have this angle adjusted to fall within spec. I am suprised that the dealer did not attempt to adjust it.

As mentioned, If you bring the car back to the dealer they're not going to be able to adjust the caster. If you demand they adjust it, they're just going to hit you with an estimate for a grand worth of new control arms. I wouldn't worry about it. Caster doesn't cause tires to wear so as long as the other camber and toe are good then you're good to go.

Got it...Thanks Loren and PTEC
