Hi to all and happy new year

I own a 2.5 1999 boxster

i have o ask if someone know about a problem

i had a chest problem and i didnt wear the seat belt for 2 weeks so suddenly the seat belt red lamp stoped to light when i turn the ignition key and check lamps and dont light when driving without belt.

it happened after 2 weeks driving without belt.

i thought that it was lamps problem because of not lighting when swiched on the key with all the other lamps but after starting wearing my seat belt again about 2 or 3 driving times the light start to light again and now it works as before without any problems did someone know why it happened and if in need to check ecu for fault codes?

thanks michael

Michael:

Is it possible that the bulb for the seat belt light was loose and was jarred back enough to make a connection when you hit a bump? When did the seat belt light go back on? Was it while driving or upon a new start up of the car?

It may be hard to pinpoint when it actually went back on (or made a good connection) because it would not show up as lit when you started wearing the seat belt again.

Maybe try to tap lightly on the top of the gauge pod to see if that "dislodges" the bulb again.

Regards, Maurice.

it give me the impression that car stoped to have all the time the bulp lighting and when i start to use again the belt is on duty again.

i dont know if ecu if understanding that the bulb is always on stop to lit and need another "activation" by wearing the belt again for some time.

now the bulb works fine on self test when ingition is on and when driving too

i think is stupid but is it possible to protect bulbs from litting all the time and make a future problem with temperature?
