Basically the Dension acts like a CD Changer, where each ‘CD’ on the head unit performs a different function:

Hi!

Do you have the latest SW version on your Dension Gateway?

Hi!

Do you have the latest SW version on your Dension Gateway?

It is Gateway 500 Most Dual FOT version 2.01

The latest version is 2.07 (2.05 is currently available on homepage). You can try to update and see if the problem is still there.

You can also check the blue LED on the AUX-box. If the Gateway is running, then it will emit light continously.

If the Gateway was crashed, the blue LED will flash during reboot.

It is also flashing when the CDC is selected.

i have installed the new version 2.07 but still same problem, the amp dont work sometime, have taken to porsche and they dont support aftermarket systems, they have run test and its fine , it is enabled as CD changer .

dension is not being of any help either.

i am thinking of taking gateway deinstalled now as atleast then my radio and cd would work, If i wd have know before wouldnt have spend 300 pounds on it

With one switch you can turn Dension Gateway to bypass mode in one second. It will restore the original state of the MOST ring, and your Amp and CD changer should work correctly. Are they working ok then?

If yes, then you have a faulty Gateway panel, ask replacement from the dealer/installer.

Mine re-boots a lot too. Bugs me, since I have to re-set the bass, treble etc. every time it re-sets.

I've got a 2003 Boxtser S. I've had the gateway 500 for about 6 months now. I'm still running 2.02. Good to know that the latest update doesn't solve it. I won't hurry to update it.

The bypass is on the little black box that has the red and white RCA connectors on it.

So when it is in GW mode (the switch on the black AUX box is set to the filled circle position), the LED blinks and then goes off after some seconds?

When it is in bypass mode (switch is on the empty circle position), the LED blinks continously and the CDC/Amp is working?

I suggest you to update to 2.08. It's not a time-consuming procedure and the 2.08 works much better than 2.02.

I've heard a few similar problems where the installation was made to a switched 12v. The instructions were'nt very clear but it should be to a permanent 12v supply.

My 2p.

It shouldn't be... except that I mounted mine inside the dash (behind the stereo) and didn't run the USB extension cable into the glove box. I'm planning to do it soon though.

Yes, a bit more time then. :D

I also feel that it is an installation mistake, but don't know what, yet. The blue led helps a lot, usually.

Could you please ask the one who installed your Gateway, whether he used permanent 12V or switched 12V?

Has he followed the Install Manual, and used Installation Type 2? Is the Gateway box installed in the boot or behind the head unit?

he has used the installation according to manual , and i think he used installation type3 as there was no cd changer installed in the car. i will double check with him but he has never installed dension before and it took him a while to install it as well.

the dension is installed behind the head unit.

From my experience, this sounds like the MOST ring lines are backwards. The ring is incomplete, then, and all sorts of odd behavior (namely no sound) would occur.

The installer should double-check the orientation of the MOST lines, and also whether he installed the GW500 before or after the headunit in the MOST ring. Cayennes like it before the headunit in the ring, and Carreras/Boxsters/Caymans like it after the headunit in the ring.

I've put these in a number of Porsches, they have all worked fine. Connection to persistent Battery (rather than switched ignition) is also required.

Could you please post the following information in order to help you on fixing your GW500 issue:

Type of Dension configuration chosen (1-2-3) as per the dual fot installation guide

Dension dip-switch configuration

Options in your car: i.e PCM, CDC, etc.

Location where the Dension GW has been installed (rear the PCM, after the CDC or instead the CDC

Thanks

I have a CDR23 in my 2005 Cayenne without a cd changer. I just got a used GW500 from ebay. Do I really need to go to the dealer to activate the changer, or is there some way I can do it myself?

:welcome:

If the changer is not already activated then you will need dealer or shop with a PIWIS tester to change that.

Try it first - many cars were already configured.
