Those are not factory - I do not know who makes them.

If you have an early Boxster and you use that cupholder then you are likely to break the hinge on the center console cover. The original cars had plastic hinges and they broke very easily. The replacement is made of metal but I still am not sure that cupholder is a good idea.

I used them for over 3 yrs now, but they r just fine!

Well center console hinge is very fragile as it is. When this thing sits properly in the console they don't even rub against em.

Looks like the fabric stop and the spring is removed to open the lid completely. Is the lid hold by Velcro on the back to stay open while driving?

I believe these r the best cup holders by far.

I'm just wondering, if many of u are equipped with this console cup holder?

Eagle Day has them, just google the name.

I'd like to try them, anything would be better than the idiotic excuse for a cup holder that came on my 2002 Boxster.

The cup holders that came with my 2003 slide out with interesting engineered assembly. You push the tab on the right, the mechanism pops out for the first cup and then you need to pull on it for the second up. I'm not sure if this is the same as the 2002. Anyway, last week I went to the dealer becuase my cup holder will no longer close correctly - $218.00 for a replacement assembly! I'm still without a cup holder so I'm glad to see other options.

Best regards,

Bill

where is your cup holder located Bill?

If it's located in the middle, then not an option with PCM.

Yes, exactly, it's in the middle of the dash right above the radio and climate control...

That sounds like what I have on my 02. A mechanical marval that can only hold a can of Red Bull. I don't usually drink anything when I drive, I use my car on the weekends, but there are times I would enjoy a can of soday or a cup of coffee and there is no way with what I have. ;)
