I'm considering adding wheel spacers to give the car a little more aggressive appearance. I have a two questions that I need some help with.

If I keep my current 17" stock wheels, could adding spacers cause the tires to rub, or would it have no effect? For those of you with 17" stock wheels, what size spacers have you added front and rear?

If I go up a size to 18" wheels, is there any downside to adding spacers that are larger than required? For those of you that have added 911 style 18" wheels, what size spacers did you add? Did you add a larger spacer than required?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I have stock 18” turbo twists with 15mm & 5mm spacers and no problems. I’ve heard 20mm is the semi-official limit (for bearing life). I don’t see much of a possibility for interference if I had an extra 5mm in the rear, but wouldn’t bet on it. It’s really a question of the offset of you wheels. If there’re stock you shouldn’t have any problems with 8mm & 15mm.

Lugs bolts are nasty at about $4.50 a pop. If you’re handy with a lath you can put together a whole set a lot less. Also beware of Ebay universal spacers, they work but are a pain to align perfectly. If you don’t, they shake and shimmy all over.

Regards, PK
