Hi there.

I bought one of the short shifters from EMB Racing in Ireland via eBay and fitted it yesterday to my 2005 987 Boxster S. I think the EMB shifter is actually a B&M Clone?

See here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...type=osi_widget

All went fine and I followed the B&M instructions that I found links to on this forum as well as some superb instructions from Cayman Club:

http://www.caymanclub.net/reviews/showprod...ct=27&cat=4

http://www.caymanclub.net/reviews/showprod...ct=13&cat=3

My issue is that the blue pivot ball on the side of the shifter was bigger than the one on the standard Porsche shifter and it broke the white plastic cube that slides inside the slot in the other white plastic bit in the shifter cage.

When I looked at the B&M instructions it does not mention refitting this white cube thing and the blue pivot ball is just the right size to fit into the slot. So I greased it well and fitted it without.

It seems to work fine and I can engage all the gears and reverse although reverese ia a bit stiff.

Have I done the right thing? Or should I get a new white cube and fit it? Anyone know the part number?

Thanks

You do not refit the plastic cube on the short shifter install. The ball runs on its own in the slot with a little grease.

Thanks Nick that's what I thought! Thanks for putting me straight though!
