Check this out! NEW body upgrade!

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I just joined the forum. Great to be here and look forward to future dialog...

I just picked up my 06 997 C2S from a body shop where I just got my front and rear body kit upgrades done.

What's unique about this is that I got the GT3 front (I highly recommend doing this before Porsche pulls their OEM body kit out of their dealers) and the rear spoiler is a combination of GT2 spoiler on top of GT3 base (primarily to keep it lower than GT2 base).

Take a look and let me know your thoughts.

That thing is HOT and personally i think money well spent. Bottom line is that yours is now different than everything else out there and no doubt the car will turn more heads with its new look. If it helps to take some of the "sting" out of that first comment know that this guy in CO is GREEN with envy..... :P

Asked for opinions and that's mine. Very nice car, just not a fan of spoilers and the like. I think they 'spoil' the car's nice clean lines but each to their own.

If that's what you want then fair play to you it's very individual. Enjoy it and don't worry about what grumpy old gits like me think, it's what you think and like that counts. It's your money and car after all!!!

I love the GT3 front! The rear spoiler is a bit too big for my taste but your car looks awesome. Congrats on the new toy!

Check out this rear bumper kit I found on a 997. It's pretty sweet.

This could be my new car. I'm negotiating now.......

Thanks all for your thoughts.

Personally, I think Porsche did a great job with GT3 front (kubota - I don't know that answer to your question, but I know that they have now recognized that they've mis-priced the body part and will likely adjust the number accordingly (coming from a dealer)). I knew that the rear spoiler was going to be interesting/controversial as it's a hybrid solution.

I decided to share this with you all because I am absolutely excited about it - my wife and two kids are also big fans (votes that count!!!)

To be honest, it does get a bit too much attention on the road with these "fast and furious" Japanese car guys nagging to race. :)

Let me know if you have any questions and interested in doing something similar.

i have the same color combo as you black on black 05 997s. I just got my gt3 bumper painted install. Will get her back today. I haven't decided n the spoiler. My wife's been nagging about the rice rocket look if i added the rear. But that's all relevant to the eye of the beholder.

Scuzy - I struggled and researched quite a bit on spoiler options myself. Naturally, my first option was to consider the factory GT3 spoiler (which was not offered by dealers at the time when I got mine done - still may be the case). But, GT3 spoiler was a bit too big for me; I know my pictures make mine look bigger but it really isn't. I wanted a bit "classic" look to my rear spoiler. GT2 spoiler is more traditional but a bit too high for my taste. So, I settled for this hybrid solution. I was a bit nervous ordering this (aftermarket) part without looking at it first, but I couldn't be happier with my decision.

Per others' comments above, it is your preference. But, I think you'll be itching for a rear spoiler as soon as you see your car without one. :)

Great looking car. Where did you get the rear wing?

Thanks

http://www.nrauto.com/

Overall, I was satisfied although my body shop had to resurface the top. Since my car was black, any imperfection on the surface would show.

Let me know with any questions.

good luck!

Looks mean and hot. I also did something similar from misha.com. A GT3 front and rear bumper, and a GT2 wing like yours. It does improve the looks. Although I did end up taking the splitter off for now, as my car was lowered and I was scraping everything.

Whats going on with the Zebra striped 997 with TT wheels in the background?

LOL x2 . That was a custom paint job for some car that ran in a recent gumball rally or something. It was parked next to mine at Speed gallery... FWIW - I asked the same question because I saw being drive arounf the SF Valley - LA, CA.

:o Man that thing looks nice, congrat on the new toy….It’s nice to see that we have similar taste. I just got my first Porsche 2005 S. My next project is to put on a GT3 Wing from Misha. The wings costs about $1300 plus shipping which is not bad compare to the original GT3 from a dealership. My question for you is how much did you pay for your wing and who make it? It’s beautiful! The picture here is from Misha new 997 GT3 wing.

The wing is made by NRauto (www.nrauto.com). Sun Coast also sells them. http://www.nrauto.com/sub_index.asp?makeid...p;spage=Spoiler.

They were $1595. I opted not to go with GT3 for personal preference also.

Good luck!

Hey. I paid $2,900 plus about $1,000 for paint and installation. My kit included: GT3 front bumper with splitter and hood vent, GT3 bumper, and GT2M rear spolier. Check out my car in the registry and add yours there!!
