If you mean option I7VE auxiliary heater with timer - I think it is quite a chore to install.

I think you are looking at electrical harnesses and lots of coolant hoses and re-routing.

The parts would also depend on your VIN number.

Here is an example parts listing...

I have had engine block heaters on my Ford Explorers with excellant results. Nice to go out to your truck, on the driveway, turn the key, and get immediate heat on a -15 degree day! They usually insert into a "freeze plug" on the block. Sounds like Porsche makes it much more difficult.

I assumed it would just be a frost plug too... isn't that what is on the VW VR6?

weird....

No... thats for a heater in the back of the car....

It is likely a small fitting that will bolt to the side of the block or into a frost plug and will have a 110V ac power cord. There shouldn't be any coolant hose changes (thats a potential failaure area you don't want in the deep cold)

Most block heaters are installed as a dealer cold weather option. I'll have a look it see what fits on the VR6 but for some reason I think they use a stick on oil pan heater.

Very odd.....

no cold weather package in the US order/options guide. Where would I go looking for a European or Canadian options guide?? Any thoughts ?

The MY05 Order Guide for Canada is here but I doubt it will be any different.

Thanks again Loren

You were quite right. No mention of winter packages.

Perhaps I should find a copy of VAG EKTA and check it...

Again, thanks for your help !
