Hi,

I ordered and recently received a new Left Front Grille for a 2004 Porsche Cayenne S. The old piece is cracked so I am replacing it. I am looking for some guidance to understand how to remove the old piece and install the new. I attached a photo of the grille replacement part to this post.

I am planning to remove the plastic cover located just in front of the hood latch (inside the engine compartment) hoping this will grant me access to the grille bolts. Is this the correct piece to remove? Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks,

Aaron

The grill is not bolted, it's a click-in system, from inside to outside. Sometimes it will work without removing the front.

You will likely have to cut or break the old grille out.

The new part gets put in from the back side and just snaps into place.

What RFM is saying above is you might be able to put it in without removing the bumper (which is about a 90 minute job).

Thank you for your responses.

I cracked out the old grille piece and found no logical way of inserting the new piece without either damaging the car or the new grille. I ended up removing the bumper which quite frankly is a simple job after you find the 4 hidden super secret bolts that are located above the wheel wells where the corner of the bumper meets the fender.

If you ever have to remove the bumper, here it is in just a few steps.

1. Remove bolts just under hood. (use common sense)

2. Remove bolts from ground shield. There is one Phillips head screw on each side, don't miss these.

3. Remove the bolt that make sense from the wheel wells.

4. Pull the wheel well back (each side) and find the two screws that remain. These are hard to get to but are necessary for removing the bumper. They are located at the corners where the bumper meets the fender. (This is the one step all of the web sites I searched seem to be missing)

5. Remove the head lights. This is simple just read the owner's manual.

6. The bumper is on a slide system. There is a latch on both sides under where the head lights used be towards the fender. Just push down on the latch and pull. Comes right off.

7. If you want to take the bumper all the way off, you will have to disconnect the parking lights and possibly a few additional cables. I did not fully remove so am unsure as to which cables need to be disconnected.

Jobs done.

Thanks,

Aaron
