Hello everyone!

On my '78 ROW 911 SC the vacuum unit is not connected, this is not the only one I've seen like that (always '78 sc's) and I would like to know if this is normal.

Thanks for your help.

We are really testing my memory here... but as I recall it is not used. As I recall when they went with the CD ignition the CD took care of the advance.

does the unit have 2 plugs? one advance one retard?

Loren I don't think the CD ignition can control advance, but you are right this does test the memory.

Bits and pieces from a time long ago...

I think on my '76 911S the advance was mechanical but the vacuum on the side just plugged the hole.

I may have to see if I can find any old pictures...

The unit on my car has only got one plug, I think the one with 2 plugs was only for US models.

All sc's I have seen have vaccum units but on some early sc's like mine it was disconnected. As the unit exists I wonder for what reason could someone have it disconnect. Maybe originally that unit did not exist on '78 models, the injection may be different and without vacuum hose for the ignition?

I really would like to know..
