The battery was disconnected on my 03 996 cab while at the body shop (getting new front bumper). The radio will not power up after the battery was re-connected. I checked the fuse box and the radio fuse was ok, but the sound package fuse (row D, fuse 9) was blown. I replaced the fuse but still no power to the radio. Any idea what good be the problem?

if it's a factory radio (becker), i believe you have to enter a code if you disconnect the battery in order to power it up. a code bar should appear.
Not for a MY03 and newer car - those would be CDR-23 radios with the MOST interface. The code is permanently kept in the DME so you only need to re-program the code if you change radios.

The radio (factory) does nothing, like it has no power at all (no light, nothing). Would there be another fuse on the back of the radio or some other fuse that might prevent power to the radio? The radio worked fine until the car battery was disconnected.

  • 1 month later...

I have the same issue on my 03 targa after it went into the body shop for a new front end...checked the fuse and it's fine. Is there a special tool to remove the deck so I can check for the fuse on the back of the radio if there is one? I realize this is a newer cdr23 radio that does not need a code so it must be the power to the deck???
