Best Radar mount

Hi,

I just bought an Escort 8500 x50 and am planning to do a hard wire mount. But was wondering, what is the best way to mount it on a Boxster??

I've seen people mount it high up and to the right of the rear view mirror and that looks ok. But other than the suction cups, are there more permanent mounts available? If so, where can I get one?

Please don;t think I'm rubbing it in, thought i just mention. I mounted mine below the dash first but too many objective so not its tucked nicely on my dash(above). I also hard wired it -cigg adapter is way too ugly I think

Hey man, I see you're in San Jose. Did you know that mounting anything on the windshield in California is illegal? It's not exactly going to get you pulled over, but may be an add-on to another ticket. Still I'm mounting mine this way until I can find a better solution. You may want to find another option. I've seen people mount them to a little stand between the seats and just in front of the roll bar.

I'm not sure if these would work on the boxsters. In looking at my mirror mount, it's oval (kind of enlongated oval) ... these mounts looks like it requires a round mount!

Can you please explain how and where to hardwire. Where are you going to tap into a switched outlet? Thanks

U will need a Escort direct hard wire kit(escort.com/2 types available) - allowing you to hardwire the power for your detector to the vehicle's fuse box so you don't have a power cord dangling down from the dash and plugged into a cigg lighter socket. So your radar wires can be well hidden.

In my case I tapped w/ my stereo circuit, since my aftermarket unit was drawing 1.5 AMP lower than stock cdr220. Or u can always tap to one of the vehicles fuse circuit u don't use much(side mirror heater,rear window defroster) power consumption is so low it shouldn't matter anyway,,,

picture shown above by Halo is also hard wired in, notice the wide flat wire instead of spiral cord? I did read ur previous post- yes u will lose sensitivity of laser detection. For maximum performance, your detector should be mounted level on your windshield, with a clear view of the road. Do not mount your detector behind the tinted area at the top of your windshield. This will reduce its laser performance dramatically!
