Of course Optima would be the best! Thanks to exclusive SpiralCell Technology, Optima Batteries last twice as long as conventional automotive batteries.

Concerning the Optima batteries, the one thing to watch out for in these Optima batteries is that you DO NOT run it down completely. If you do, these batteries DO NOT recover. I've had two friends who put them in their cars, one in a Corvette and another in a 912. They let the car sat and could not start it after a couple of months and the battery would not charge. Both had the batteries replaced and it happened again after a few months.

Otherwise, they're nice batteries ... a tad bit expensive though.

what u've described applies to any battery out there ,not only the Optima.

once battery is drained like that all the way they r almost not recoverable unless it is deep cycle.

Disagree....

"what u've described applies to any battery out there ,not only the Optima. once battery is drained like that all the way they r almost not recoverable unless it is deep cycle."

Then how about the must be hundreds of times (I'm old and in the neighborhood I'm known as the guy with cables) I've jumped a totally dead (left the lights on overnight) battery and it recovered just fine?

I think the danger is how many times that deep discharge has happened to a battery. Too many times and it won't recover. But once or maybe twice and as long as it has water in it and is carefully recharged, it seems to recover.

Gotta agree with you Mike. One of my Deflection rollers broke causing the polyrib belt to come off. Didnt know what happened @ that time, just knew I was stuck on side of road. Well trying to get home I discharged the battery (because I would start the car, drive a few miles shut her off awhile, then restart.) After doing this a few times I discharged the battery.Got her home put her on a battery maintainer for a day-havent had any problems since.

Completely discharging any lead-acid battery will reduce it's life expectancy, Optima or otherwise.

That said, I've got an Optima red top that's over 15 years old that sits in a summer car. It's been fully discharged at least three times and the battery continues to recover and function magnificently.

The thing to know with an Optima battery is that only the 34R red top works in our cars without extending the battery cables because of the post locations.
