Need help on finding a Extended Warranty provider

I am trying to purchase a 2003 996TT with 18,000 miles or a 2003 996 GT2 with 22,000 miles. I have been searching through google and it seems warranty companies do not cover TT or GT2. I have never bought a car without extended warranty and it has saved me lots of $$$ in the past. Please share your experience if you know of a company that will cover any of these two cars. Thanks a lot.

I've been looking for coverage In FL and had the same issue. I found one company that was offering coverage but the list of disqualifiers included modified rims/tires, I have 19" wheels. Some companies exclude performance cars on TT or AWD so ensure you state both. AAA sell a MERCURY policy which excludes AWD TT. They told me AAA is going to a new company that was likely to be less restrictive in December.

The company that was quoting me was CARCHEX (1-877-CARCHEX) on a PRISM policy, it looked good. These companies don't cover all the States, I would call about GA.

I have no specific companies for you, but will offer a bit of advice:

READ THE ACTUAL POLICY to determine your coverage.

All warranties will exclude coverage that is CAUSED by modifications. However an extended warranty- which is actually a 'contract for mechanical breakdown insurance' can be more limiting. They can actually have language that flat out void the entire contract for ANY 'modification from stock'.

People get confused between the limits on warranties that the Moss Magnussen act provides, and what is alllowed with "extended warranties"

It is important to read the language and not rely on what a sales rep TELLS you- "Oh, yeah, we're cool with mods as long as they didn't cause the problem" yet a written contract that says "Coverage is void for any modified vehicle"... which will apply when the adjuster is looking at $28k for a dropped rod?

Guys, I'm in the UK and its quite simple here.

Standard car of your age and mileage go for the OPC deal....modified then seems you've screwed it, they just don't want to know and can you blame them!

I've an 04 TT, X50 on OPC warranty and there it will remain for 9 years. ;)

But if you own a car like this you've gotta be able to stand the pain of the bills otherwise stay clear. Something about heat in a kitchen and bailing out eh!

Thank you all for your responses. I will look into CARCHEX and AAA. I am negotiating on a 03 TT X50 (29,000 miles) and definitely would like to see if people with the same car have purchased warranty coverage before? I am not looking to modify the car since I would be pretty much happy with the X50 ;)

The only "MODS" on my car are Champion wheels that came from Champion Motors shortly after the car was purchased there, my car is considered "modified" according to the PRISM policy (CARCHEX) I've looked at. Common MODS include short shift kits, wheels/tires and lower ride height springs.

Good advice on reading the contract, the guy selling me the policy didn't know about the wheel exclusion but he was kind enough to send me a copy of the contract in advance.
