Hi all. New member 1st post. Searched but didn't find the answer...

I am curious about the top speed of the TechArt 997 turbo, which is listed at 210+mph.

According to the site below, it has the same red line, 6th gear ratio, and rear end ratio as a stock 997 turbo (whose top speed is listed as ~190-see second link).

How can the TechArt be faster with the same gears/rpms? Surely it is not due to larger wheels/tires. (if so, what a cheap upgrade).

Thank you,

Yancy

Hi,

It has the X50 upgrade. A lot of money

for just a little HP gain. The suspension

also gets a upgrade.

Does the X50 change the 6th gear ratio?

X50 is an engine upgrade/modification only. It has nothing to do with the suspension or transmission.

So, if all the gears are the same. Is TechArt just running that 997 way over factory redline? How else could it be that much faster on the top end?

I suspect TechArt has done much more than an X50 package.

It has always been my understanding that one of the limiting factors on the top speed was Wind Resistance vs. Horse Power. The extra HP lets you obtain more of the cars speed potential. The gears will let you get there on paper, but in the real world their are forces working against you like friction and resistance.
