:D I just installed the console delete kit in my 2003 TT coupe. I found about it on the 996 forum and I love it! My long legs kept bumping against the console. Some clever person designed the kit and my problem is over. It came from Suncoast Motorsports in Sarasota, FL. Here is a picture of the installation.post-8308-1195264627_thumb.jpg

Hi, I have long legs too and have been looking to see if it is poosible to do the console delete on a 996TT. I have done it in my GT3 but have been led to believe that it is not possible in the 996TT. Were there any issues?, have you looked at a 340mm steering wheel - I can't seem to find a good looking one. Happy to get any further information. Regards

It was easy because I didn't have anything connected in the console. My seat heaters are aftermarket and the switches are on the sides of the seats. If you have stock heated seats you will need to move the switches. I followed the instructions from the 996 board and it all went smoothly. I didn't realize how annoying that console was until it was gone! The stock wheel was fine for me.

did this on my turbo as well its a great mod.

when you moved the seat heater buttons did you have to splice in more wire to reach the switch blanks behind the ashtray? or were the factory wires long enough to reach?

i've got the parts from suncoast porsche. it could be a DIY, but i don't want to mess with wiring.

update: oh. i took a closer look at the last pic. you moved the seat heater buttons up to the stereo surround. i guess they reached there ok?

Beecher,

Would you mind elaborating on your "after market" seat heaters? This was the only option I did not get with my 996TT '02. Didn't realize that after market was an option.

Cheers,

J

A good upholstery shop can put these in for you. I found one locally that did a lot of Mercedes and was not at all afraid of the job on the turbo. Remind them not to turn the ignition key on with the seats out or they will trip the airbag light. They paid for the trip to the dealer to get it turned off. The switches are on the outboard sides of the seats and easy to find by feel.

Everything that you need comes with the kit.

Thank you very much for your answer. The kit is ordered and should be here in a couple of days.

Does anyone know how to remove this part?
