Hi All,

Because my cayenne TT 2003 did not have very nice looking steering wheel button, I have decided to replace the airbag.

There is a nice airbag waiting for me to come home to and this looks like a nice 'project' for the spare hours this weekend.

Important question would be, which battery should I disconnect before I start working on the airbag??

If it would be 'wheel of fortune' I would go for the battery under the driver's seat. Because this is more risky than wheel of fortune, I would like to know for sure.

Thanks and have a good weekend.

Frank.

To clarriy, I only need to disconnect the battery under the driver's seat when I remove the steering wheel?

The ground point under the carpet, front right side of the driver seat is sufficient.

Wow, and that will kill all power to the vehicle?

Thank you very much!! This will save me a LOT of time. I'm replacing my wood steerign wheel and chipped buttons for a new airbag/buttons and TechEquipment thick steering wheel. I hope the heater works in the new wheel since I haven't had that with the wood wheel.

Agian, thank you.

A heated steering wheel needs a reprogram and accession to the systems with PIWIS tool.

Is it possible to install a non-heated steering wheel on a Cayenne with heated steering wheel option? I found a padded steering wheel (non-heated) and would love to install it in my 09 Cayenne (w/ heated steering wheel)...Thanks!

Thanks!!! So what you're saying is that this will need to be done at the dealership?
It will need to be done by a shop with a PIWIS tester.

All dealers/OPCs have PIWIS testers but some independent shops also have them.

I just changed my heated leather steering wheel and installed a dark rootwood wheel. The airbag warning light is now on. Did you have this happen to you? How did you fix it? Did the dealer have to change the code? If the answer is yes, what did they charge you? THANK YOU, JIM

The airbag light will come on if the battery isn't disconnected prior to removal. I disconnected the ground before the job and re-connected after the install with no issues (no light). Someone else told me this happened to them and they had to take it to the dealer to get the light turned off. The airbag likely won't work until you do this. But, that's just my educated guess.

Hello!

I need to replace the butons from the steering wheel ( havana beije and mobile phone option) and i need the driver airbag ( even damaged). The butons come only with the airbag.

I will pay for it, if you can help me.

Many thanks!
