Doors fail to unlock when gt3 unused for a few days

Hi guys,

Its me again, i hope you can help me with this one- I noticed that everytime i leave my gt3 (996) unused in the garage after a couple of days (more than 5 days), the doors fail to unlock when the remote key is used (the signal lights dont even flash) and i have to open it manually by key insertion. I doubt that my battery is the culprit, because when i switch the ignition,it cranks up effortlessly. So there guys, what do you think? My apologies if ever this topic has been discussed in previous threads, and thanks in advance for your inputs, peace :renntech:

Its by design. The radio system goes into powersave and must be opened via the key. Then, either blip the remote button to lock/unlock or insert the key into the ignition straight after otherwise the alarm may sound.

From the GT3 Owners Manual:

"The remote-control standby function switches off after 5 days

If the vehicle is not started or unlocked with the remote control within five days, the remote control standby function is switched off (to prevent discharging of the vehicle battery).

1. In this case, unlock the driver's door with the key at the door lock. Leave the door closed in order to prevent the alarm system from being triggered.

2. Press button 1 on the remote control. The remote control is now activated again."

They say this but in practice with my car it does not work. I put the key in the door and turn the lock. Immediately the alarm sounds - it sounds as soon as the doors unlock. Note: I have not opened the door at this point. I then have to race to put the key into the ignition and press the button. I'm not sure if once the alarm goes off I can turn it off without putting it into the ignition by just pressing the button. I will try next time.....But simply unlocking it and not opening it doesn't work in my case.... not sure why...

And your car is an RoW car? (I am guessing)

They are different alarm systems.

They are different alarm systems.

Mine is a UK delivered car which I know had extra alarm added to it with I think tilt and siren.

Weird.
